About configuring shared drives

In a shared drive (Shared Storage Option) environment, some of the limitations are different than in a configuration without shared drives.

Table: Shared drive configuration limitations

Shared drive

Description

In ACS, TL8, TLD, TLH, or TLM robots

This wizard configures shared drives on all of the media servers (or SAN media servers) that you select. Be sure to include the media server where the robotic devices are attached, so device serialization can be used.

Drives that the wizard discovers as attached to the hosts that you select are configured as shared drives. The wizard assigns robotic control to the first media server (or SAN media server) that scans for devices and discovers the robot.

Standalone drives

Any standalone drives that the wizard detects as attached to multiple hosts are configured as shared standalone drives.

All hosts that share the drive must use the same name for the drive. The wizard assigns these drive names.
