Setting the property on Windows hosts

On master and media servers, the bpsetconfig command is available to add the REVERSE_NAME_LOOKUP entry to the registry. The bpsetconfig command is described in NetBackup Commands.

To set the Reverse Host Name Lookup property on a Windows client, add the REVERSE_NAME_LOOKUP entry to the registry using the following method.

To update the registry

  1. From the command line, run regedit to open the registry editor.

  2. Navigate to the following key directory:

    My Computer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\
    NetBackup\CurrentVersion\Config
    
  3. From the Edit menu, select New > String Value.

  4. Name the String Value: REVERSE_NAME_LOOKUP.

  5. Give REVERSE_NAME_LOOKUP the value data of either PROHIBITED, RESTRICTED, or ALLOWED.

  6. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.
