Using Internet Explorer proxy settings

Proxy settings are used to tell the Microsoft Download Manager the network address of an intermediary server (known as a proxy server) that is used between the application and the Internet on some networks. Changing proxy settings is something you usually only have to do if you are connecting to the Internet through a corporate network. In some cases, you might need to manually set a proxy with information supplied by your network administrator. See Manually changing proxy settings for more information.

You can also configure Microsoft Download Manager to use settings already configured for Internet Explorer.

To configure Download Manager to use Internet Explorer proxy settings:

1.      Click the Settings icon on the Download Manager toolbar to open the Settings dialog box.

2.      Click the Proxy tab.

3.      Click Use Browser Settings.

4.      Click OK to save your changes and close the Settings dialog box.

Note: You can only use this option for Internet Explorer browsers, not Firefox.
