How to Set the Package Execution Order

The package execution order allows you to manage the order in which packages are executed.

Package order is determined by the package execution order rules, which cannot be broken.

To set the package execution order

  1. In the Scope pane, right-click Packages and select Package Execution Order....

The Package Execution Order dialog box appears showing all packages in the default execution order.

  1. Click Lock Depot to lock the Package Depot while you make changes to the execution order.  The locked Package Depot is still available to other administrators but they will have limited access.

  2. Select a package you want to move to a different execution order.

  3. If desired, click Properties to open the Properties of the Selected Package dialog box to set a package description and the package execution order properties.

  4. In the Package Execution Order dialog box use the arrow buttons to move the package to the desired location.

The icons show whether or not the order you choose is allowed, based on the package execution order rules.

  1. Click Apply to set the changes you made, and repeat the steps to change the execution order of another package.

  2. Click Unlock Depot to unlock the Package Depot.  The packages can now be used by other administrators.

Alternatively, the Package Depot is unlocked automatically when you close the dialog box.
