Unlocking Computers

A computer is locked when Symantec LiveState Delivery is performing actions on the computer. Locking the computer ensures that only one administrator can manage a computer at one time.

The occasions when Symantec LiveState Delivery locks a computer are:

If you try to perform an action on a computer while another administrator is accessing the computer, an alert appears asking if you want to force an unlock.

Unlocking a computer should be done only if you are sure that the lock is faulty. For example, a computer that was turned off during an action would need to be unlocked.

Warning: Only in extreme situations should you forcibly unlock the computer. Forcibly unlocking the computer and interrupting actions being performed by another instance of the Command Center may corrupt the Configuration Database.

To unlock computers

  1. In the Scope pane, expand Computers and click All Computers.

  2. In the Result pane, select the computers that you want to unlock.

  3. Right-click the selected item and select Computer Actions > Unlock.

  4. If necessary, in the Unlock Computers dialog box, select the Force unlock if locked by another Symantec LiveState instance check box.
