Creating and Managing Computer Groups

You can create groups of computers and execute tasks simultaneously on all of the computers in the group. You can group computers by organizational departments, machine types, operating systems, specific installed software, or other criteria. A computer can belong to one or more computer groups.

Creating Computer Groups

There are several ways in which you can create computer groups.

• Create a computer group first, then add computers to the group later

• Select computers and create a group from them

• Create a group from search results

You can also link to an external group of computers created outside of Symantec LiveState Delivery. By creating a link to an external group, you do not need to recreate the same group of computers inside Symantec LiveState Delivery. You assign jobs to external groups the same way that you assign jobs to a group created inside of Symantec LiveState Delivery.

Managing Computer Groups

Symantec LiveState Delivery allows you to manage computer groups by:

• Adding computers to an existing computer group

• Renaming a computer group

• Removing computers from a computer group

• Deleting a computer group

• Creating temporary groups
