You may want to stop an Enterprise Vault task or
service for many possible reasons, such as when you do any of the
following:

Changing tasks, policies, or service settings. For
many of the service settings you must stop and restart one or more
services before the new settings come into effect. For details of
which settings require a restart to take effect, see the help for
the property pages of each service and task.

Changing hardware configurations.

Reconfiguring a service.
