Deleted items in Vault Cache

Note:

This setting only applies to Outlook Add-In versions prior to Enterprise Vault 8.0. In Enterprise Vault 8.0, preemptive caching obeys the Archiving General advanced setting Archive deleted items in the Exchange mailbox policy. So if Enterprise Vault archives items from the Deleted Items folder, preemptive caching adds eligible items from the Deleted Items folder to the Vault Cache.

Description

Sets the default for whether items in the Deleted Items folder are included in the Vault Cache. Users can change this setting in the options for their Vault Cache, unless you have locked the setting.

See Lock for 'Deleted items in Vault Cache'.

Note that when shortcuts are deleted from the Deleted Items folder, the next Outlook synchronize deletes those shortcuts from the offline Deleted Items folder.

This means that the corresponding items in the Vault Cache are unavailable. Thus, if the Deleted Items folder is emptied frequently, there is little point in including deleted items in the Vault Cache.

Supported values

  • Off (default). Do not include the Deleted Items folder. The Vault Cache setup wizard does not ask the user whether to include the Deleted Items folder.

  • On. Include the Deleted Items folder. The setup wizard does not ask the user whether to include the Deleted Items folder.

  • Ask User. When the user sets up Vault Cache, the setup wizard asks whether to include the Deleted Items folder.
