The default location is
the folder FSATaskCheckPoint

Enterprise Vault program folder.
If you are using File System Archiving in a clustered environment, specify a location that is highly available.
If you change the checkpoint folder location Enterprise Vault does not automatically transfer the existing folder contents to the new location. If some volumes have not been completely processed you may want to move the contents of the old checkpoint folder to the new location.
