The cache provides space for the temporary files that Enterprise Vault uses. Each Enterprise Vault server has a cache.
The cache is not created until it is required.
. Specify the location to be used for the cache. The Vault Service account must have read and write access to the location you select. As anti-virus software can potentially change data in the cache, it is important to exclude the cache location in your virus checking application.
If you change the cache location, the data in the old location is no longer available to Enterprise Vault. You can copy the data to the new cache location or delete it. If you do not copy existing data, then Enterprise Vault will need to recreate it.
If you decide to copy the data to the new cache location, first stop all the Enterprise Vault services, then create the new location and copy the data. You can then restart the services.
. Specify the maximum size to allow for the cache. You can change this size later, if required.
If you change the maximum cache size after the existing cache has been used, then you must restart all the Enterprise Vault services.
. When a client requests a Vault Cache synchronization, and new items need to be downloaded to the Vault Cache on the user's computer, Enterprise Vault gathers together copies of the items to be downloaded and holds them temporarily in the cache on the Enterprise Vault server before they are downloaded to the client. You can use the setting to limit the number of download requests that Enterprise Vault processes concurrently.
Specify the maximum number of Vault Cache download requests that Enterprise Vault is allowed to process concurrently. The maximum value that you can specify is 99.
If you change this value, restart all the Enterprise Vault services.
