Storage Expiry deletes archived items when their Retention Periods expire.
Storage Expiry runs according to the schedule that you define on this screen, checking through archives for items whose Retention Periods have expired and deleting them.
Storage Expiry is carried out by the Storage Service.
. Items in archives expire at the end of the Retention Period.
. Items in archives expire at the end of the Retention Period. When you select , the start of the Retention Period is the date the items were archived. This setting is useful if you import old items from other mail systems. If the items are very old and deleted items expire on sent/received date, the items could expire immediately.
. Select this to set the default to be that Storage Expiry never runs. If you select this, you also affect Shortcut Deletion. If you select , Shortcut Deletion does not remove shortcuts to items whose Retention Period has expired, because those items remain in the archives.
. Select this to run Storage Expiry at the times you select on the schedule.
. Select this to make Storage Expiry run in report mode. In report mode, nothing is deleted from archives, but a report in the Application Log shows how many items would be deleted from each Vault Store if you ran Storage Expiry normally.
. Select this to make the time display show units of one hour. You can then select times in intervals of an hour.
. Select this to make the time display show units of a quarter of an hour. You can then select times in quarter hours.
Note that, if you change the display back to , all times are rounded up to the nearest whole hour. For example, if you set a range of 07:00 to 07:15 it would become a range of 07:00 to 08:00 when you change the display to . This change is not reversed if you change back to 15 minute intervals. If you do change to hourly intervals by mistake, use to abandon your changes.
