The options on this page are applicable only to SharePoint 3.0 targets. Enterprise Vault ignores the settings when processing SharePoint 2.0 targets.
When Enterprise Vault archives documents, the copy stored in the archive is given the same permissions as the folder that contained the original document.
If there is a document with permissions that are different from those of the containing folder, the archived copy will have the folder permissions. Shortcuts will have the same permissions as the document.
Someone who has access to the original folder can find and access the archived copy of the document, even if the document permissions denied access. Such a person cannot use a shortcut to access the document, however.
When archiving documents from SharePoint 3.0 targets you can choose whether to archive documents that have unique permissions.
