Enterprise Vault can collect together multiple savesets that are archived with the same retention category, and store them in a single Centera clip.
Note: |
A collection clip and the savesets that it contains are not deleted until there are no references to any of the savesets in the clip. |
If you enable a vault store partition on a Centera device for collection, then an additional SQL index may be created for the Saveset table in the associated vault store database. Additional space is required for this index on the SQL Server hosting the relevant vault store database. For more information on this index see the document, http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288036, on the Symantec Enterprise Support site.
The options are as follows:
. Select this setting to make Enterprise Vault use collections for this partition. Clear this setting if you do not want to use collections. You can change this setting whenever required. The change has no effect on the items that are already archived. If you enable collections you must supply a location for temporary files.
Note that you cannot clear if there are any savesets currently awaiting collection. If you receive a message about this situation, wait for the Storage Service to finish collecting the savesets. If the Storage Service is not running, start it so that it can collect the savesets.
. Specify the location in which you want Enterprise Vault to store temporary files that are waiting to be collected together. If you want to change the location, you must disable and re-enable collection.
. Select this to make Enterprise Vault add security ACLs to the files that are awaiting collection. If you decide to create the temporary files without ACLs, be aware that there is no security on the files. In this case, we strongly recommend that you apply security manually.
