File System Archiving Task Properties: Pruning

File System Archiving pruning lets you control the number of versions of files that are stored in Enterprise Vault archives. It is performed by a process on the Storage Service computer. These settings let you control the pruning behavior.

You can generate reports for pruning runs; see the Reports tab for details.

Enable pruning. Select this to enable pruning according to the settings you specify below. Clear this if you do not want to pruning to occur.

Prune to <number> versions of the document. Select this and specify a number to control the maximum number of archived versions of a document. If this number is exceeded, pruning removes the oldest versions until there are this many versions.
Enable age-based pruning. Select this and specify an age to remove file versions that are older than this age.
Delete items older than <age>. Specify the age at which Enterprise Vault is to remove older versions of archived items.

Scheduled Pruning. Pruning runs a maximum of twice each day and always runs until completion. Select the times at which you want pruning to start.

AM pruning at the following hour. Select this and enter the hour at which a before-midday pruning run is to start.
PM pruning at the following hour. Select this and enter the hour at which an after-midday pruning run is to start.

Pruning status. Indicates whether pruning is currently running.
