Folder Policy Properties: Permissions

When Enterprise Vault archives files, the version stored in the archive is given the same permissions as the folder that contained the original file. This means that:

If there is a file with permissions that are different from those of the containing folder, the archived version will have the folder permissions and if the file is restored it will have the folder permissions. Shortcuts will have the same permissions as the file.

Someone who has access to the original folder can find and access the archived version of the file, even if the file permissions denied access. Such a person cannot use a shortcut to access the file, however.

What do you want to do with files that have explicit permissions:

User Volume Policy settings. Select this to apply the volume policy to those files that have specific permissions.
- Ignore them. Select this if you want prevent Enterprise Vault from archiving files with explicit permissions.
- Archive them. Select this to make Enterprise Vault include files with explicit permissions when archiving.
