The Account Transition Options page of the User Account Migration Wizard specifies the state of the source and target accounts after you use the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) to migrate the user accounts and security identifiers (SIDs).

The Account Transition Options page has the following options:

Target Account State

  • Enable target accounts

Select this option to enable the newly created user account in the target domain. This option makes it possible for a user to log on to the target domain by using the new account.

  • Disable target accounts

Select this option to disable the newly created user account in the target domain. This option prohibits anyone from using the target account to log on to the target domain. This option can affect migrated service accounts. Do not select this option to migrate accounts that services use.

  • Target same as source

Select this option to set the target account to the same state as the source account. This option matches the newly created account in the target domain to the state of the account that is copied from the source domain, whether it is enabled or disabled.

Source Account Disabling Options

  • Disable source accounts

Select this option to disable the original user account in the source domain. This option prohibits anyone from using the source domain account to log on to the source domain.

  • Days until source accounts expires

Select this option to set the number of days after which the source account is no longer enabled. This option prohibits anyone from using the source account to log on to the domain after the specified number of days. The account expires at midnight on the last day.

Migrate user SIDs to target domain

  • Migrate user SIDs to target domain

Select this option to add the SID of the migrated account in the source domain to the sIDHistory attribute of the new user account in the target domain.

    Note

You can perform migration of SID history using this wizard at either a member server or a domain controller in the target domain.
