Manage Package Jobs CCM Activity

When you initiate the deployment of packages by dragging the packages to computers and clicking OK or OK (Coop) in the Assign Packages dialog box, CCM creates a CCM Activity subitem, Managing Package Jobs nnn, where nnn is a system-generated number.

To display details about the activity:

  1. In the main Command Center window's Scope pane, expand the CCM Activities item.

  2. Click Managing Package Jobs nn to display details in the Result pane.

You can have a separate window open automatically to display these details. Set this option in the the CCM Command Center Properties - CCM Activities tab dialog box with the Automatically Open New Window for New Task checkbox

Preparing package jobs

--

CCM attempts to create package jobs out of the packages selected for assignment (or for deletion). This may lead to the "Waiting for user input" / "Update package" status, where you have to decide between an update or parallel installation.

Checking for exclusions

--

CCM checks for exclusions (that is, whether there are conflicts between packages selected for assignment and packages already assigned to the computer). This may lead to the "Waiting for user input" / "Delete conflicting packages" status, where you must confirm the deletion of some packages already installed on the computer

Checking for dependencies

--

CCM checks for dependencies (that is, whether intended assignment/deletion of packages does not create missing dependencies). This may lead to the "Waiting for user input" / "Add required packages" status as well as to the "Waiting for user input" / "Delete conflicting packages" status. The latter results from an intended deletion of some package on which other previously installed packages depended.
