How Granular Recovery Technology works with the Agent for VMware

Backup Exec Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) lets you restore individual drives, files, and folders without having to restore the entire virtual machine. GRT works only for the virtual machines that use a Windows operating system. GRT does not work for system recovery.

You should review the requirements for a GRT-enabled backup before you configure it.

See About requirements for jobs that use Granular Recovery Technology.

To use GRT, you select the individual drives, files, and folders that you want to restore from the list that appears when you expand the network bios name of the virtual machine. You cannot select individual drives, folders, and files from the virtual machines that appear when you expand VMware VirtualCenter and ESX Servers.

See About selecting VMware virtual resources for restore.
