Restoring an ADAM Instance

To restore a backup of an ADAM instance that you made using the Backup Utiltiy for Windows, you must manually run the Backup Utility to restore that instance. You cannot automate the restore process using the Backup Utility.

To restore an ADAM instance with the following procedure, you must first create a backup by Backing Up an ADAM Instance.

To restore a backup of an ADAM instance using the Backup Utility

  1. Use the Services Administrative Tool to stop the service for the ADAM instance.
  2. At a command prompt, type ntbackup.exe to run the Backup Utility.
  3. If the Backup Utility starts with the Backup or Restore Wizard, click Advanced Mode.
  4. In Advanced Mode, click the Restore and Manage Media tab.
  5. Select the backup file for the instance to restore by clicking its checkbox.
  6. To start the restore, click the Start Restore button.
  7. When the Confirm Restore dialog appears, click OK.
  8. When the restore is done, click Close in the Restore Progress dialog.
  9. To exit the Backup Utility, select Exit from the Job menu.
  10. Use the Services Administrative Tool to restart the service for the ADAM instance.
