Reference for content sources

The path to your content should be the location of the content specified by a local path, a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path, or a URL. The following table provides examples of paths for different publishing point sources.

UNC paths are not the most efficient way to specify a content source because the server cannot take advantage of NTFS caching when a UNC path is used. For optimal performance, store the content on a local drive.
