- Drag a component or capability from the Component Designer
details pane to the appropriate node (Needs, Needed by, or
Conflicts) in the navigation pane.
For procedures for defining specific dependencies or conflicts, click the appropriate question mark in the following table: Dependency or Conflict
Relationship Define Dependency Define Define Conflict Capability and capability 1. In the navigation pane, expand the capabilities that depend on each other. 2. Select the component definition file.
3. From the details pane, drag a capability (A) to the Needs or Needed by portion of another capability (B).
Result
Capability B needs capability A.
- or -
Capability B is required by capability A.
Note If you select a dependency (either Needs or Needed by) for one capability, Component Designer creates its opposite for the corresponding capability.
1. In the navigation pane, expand the capabilities that conflict. 2. Select the component definition file.
3. From the details pane, drag a capability (A) to the Conflict portion of another capability (B).
Result
Capabilities A and B conflict.
Capability and component 1. In the navigation pane, expand the capabilities to use for the dependency. 2. Select the parent capability of the component (A).
3. From the details pane, drag A to either Needs or Needed by under the required capability (B).
Result
Capability B needs component A.

Capability B is required by component A.
