To add a file

  1. In the Component Designer navigation pane, expand the appropriate component.
  2. Under the expanded component, right-click Files, and then click Add File.
  3. In the File Propertiesdialog box, enter the appropriate information for the following:
    • File name

      The name of the file to be added.

    • Size

      The size of the file in bytes to be added. The size of the file affects the running count displayed on the status bar for the selected configuration or component.

    • Source path

      The location of the file. Type the path, or the relative path to the repository path.

      When Target Designer builds the software, it searches this path for your file.

      Note   If the source file resides in the same directory as the component definition file, type: \
    • Target path

      The file is saved to this target path.

    • Target name

      The file is saved to this name in the target path.

      Note   To use the same name as the source file, leave this empty.
      Note   You can cut-and-paste files from Windows Explorer to a component.
