On the target hard disk drive or flash disk, you must replace the boot sector with the correct Windows NT boot sector.

After creating a bootable partition for your target system, the partition is ready to boot your Windows NT Embedded operating system.

To create a bootable partition for your target system

  1. On your development system, create an NT boot partition utility disk as follows:
    1. Label an empty floppy disk as "NT boot partition utility disk."
    2. Insert the disk into your development system.
    3. Assuming that Windows NT Embedded CD1 is in drive D, execute the following commands:
      C:\> D: D:\> CD MungeBoot D:\MungeBoot\>
      webimgnt munge622.144
    4. In the Web Image NT application, press the A Drivebutton to create the utility disk.
    5. On your embedded system, do the following:
      1. Using Disk Administrator (recommended) or another formatting tool, format the first partition on the primary disk with FAT or NTFS.
      2. If not done, install a floppy disk drive.
      3. Insert the "NT boot partition utility disk" into the floppy disk drive.
      4. Execute the following command: A:\> NTBOOT
