To add more than one network adapter of the same type, do the following:
- Give each network adapter the same name followed by a unique instance number (<2>, <3>, and so on).
- Enter a sequential instance number for each network adapter
under the following registry path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\< instance number >\.
For example: The registry path for the second-instance network adapter is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\2\
Important For the properties dialog box to function properly, you must use the naming convention specified.
If the registry key has not been defined when the component definition file is imported into Target Designer, the adapter is put in the first-instance key in the target system registry path. This could overwrite valid network adapter data.
