If you import a component definition file that contains a reference to a hive file, the hive file is copied into the following directory on your development system:

< installation directory >\ repository\hives\< component name >_< hive name >.hiv

If the hive file referenced by the component definition file is faulty, the component is removed from the Target Designer system database and the hive file remains in the repository. You can still correctly import your component definition into Target Designer by doing the following:

  1. Correct the problem in the hive file.
  2. Delete the old hive file from \repository\hives\_.hiv.
  3. Import the component definition again by using Target Designer.
Note   The installation directory is the directory on your development system in which you installed Windows NT Embedded. The default directory is \\Program Files\\Windows NT Embedded 4.0.
