You can navigate to the soft keys by using hardware controls. For soft keys that display a menu, the menu is displayed immediately upon the application receiving the device code VK_DOWN. For non–menu soft keys that do not display a menu, the action defined by the soft key occurs immediately upon the application receiving the device code VK_UP. Each application is responsible for handling the code to enable custom menus.

Note:
Beginning with Windows Mobile 6.5.3, soft keys are replaced by touchable tiles on Windows Mobile Professional phones.
