Windows Embedded CE supports two versions of the SNMP protocol: SNMPv1and SNMPv2c:
- SNMPv1 is the first version of the protocol, and is defined by
RFC 1157, RFC 1155, and RFC 1212. This document replaces the
earlier versions of the protocol that were published as RFC 1067
and RFC 1098. Security is based on community strings.
- SNMPv2c is a version of the protocol that is known as community
string–based SNMPv2. It is an update of the protocol operations and
data types of SNMPv2p, and uses community-based security from
SNMPv1. It is defined by RFC 1901, RFC 1905, and RFC 1906.
