This message sets the maximum width for a ToolTip window.

Syntax

TTM_SETMAXTIPWIDTH
wParam = 0;

lParam = (LPARAM)(INT)
iWidth;

Parameters

wParam

Not used. Set to 0.

iWidth

Integer that specifies the maximum width of the ToolTip window.

Return Value

The return value is an integer that contains the previous maximum width of the ToolTip window.

Remarks

The value for the maximum ToolTip width does not indicate the actual width of the ToolTip window. Rather, if a ToolTip string exceeds the maximum width, the control splits the text into multiple lines, using spaces to determine line breaks. If the control cannot split the text into multiple lines, the control displays the text on a single line. The length of this line can exceed the maximum ToolTip width.
