RIL Registry Settings
The values for the context and packet settings of the
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cellular\Ril]
Registry key are
intended to be configured by OEMs. The number of contexts cannot be
changed dynamically.
Roaming Support
- If the device is configured for multiple contexts and roams to
a network that does not support multiple APNs then device behavior
is undefined.
- Currently, the provisioned “
Contexts” value of the
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cellular\Ril]
Registry key will be used by Connection Manager irrespective of how many contexts the network actually supports. It is expected that the connections beyond the maximum supported by the network will be dropped by the network. It is also expected that new connections beyond the maximum supported by the network will be gracefully failed by the radio and/or network.
Modifying Timeout for Competing Connections
With serial access point name (APN) connection sharing, multiple requests can compete for connections, slowing access to an Internet portal. You can improve responsiveness by setting a delay before a competing request is allowed to stop the current connection, using the following registry key.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
Registry Value Name | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
StopConnectionDelay |
REG_DWORD |
EA60Hex value that sets the delay to 60 seconds (suggested value) Not Set(default) Connection sharing performs as usual |
