The IDirectSoundNotifyinterface provides a mechanism for setting up notification events for a playback or capture buffer.

The interface is obtained by calling the QueryInterfacemethod of an existing interface on a DirectSoundBuffer object. For an example, see "DirectSound" in the Graphics and Multimedia guide.

The interface has the following method:

SetNotificationPositions

Like all COM interfaces, the IDirectSoundNotifyinterface also inherits the IUnknowninterface methods. The IUnknowninterface supports the following three methods:

IUnknown AddRef
  QueryInterface
  Release

The LPDIRECTSOUNDNOTIFYtype is defined as a pointer to the IDirectSoundNotifyinterface:

typedef struct IDirectSoundNotify
*LPDIRECTSOUNDNOTIFY;
