NoServices

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Uninstall

Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0 | 1 0

Description

Removes the Set up services section of the Add/Remove Windows Components page. As a result, users cannot use Add/Remove Programs to configure installed services.

This entry stores the setting of the Go directly to Components wizard Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value Meaning
0 (or not in registry) The policy is disabled or not configured. The Set up services section appears when there are unconfigured system services.
1 The policy is enabled. The Set up services never appears.

The Set up services section lists system services that have not been configured and offers users easy access to the configuration tools. The Set up services appears only when there are unconfigured system services.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Go directly to Components wizard policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs).

Note Image Note

This entry does not prevent users from using other methods to configure services.

Clicking the Add/Remove Windows Components button usually displays a page that consists of Set up services and a button to start the Windows Component wizard. However, when Set up services does not appear, clicking the Add/Remove Windows Components button starts the Windows Component wizard immediately.

If the value of NoWindowsSetupPage is set to 1, this entry is ignored.

Tip Image Tip

To remove Set up services and prevent the Windows Component wizard from starting, set the value of NoWindowsSetupPage to 1.
