Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0 | 1 0

Description

Removes the Add programs from your network section of the Add New Programs page. The Add programs from your network section lists published programs and provides an easy way to install them.

This entry stores the setting of the Hide the "Add programs from your network" option Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value Meaning
0 (or not in registry) The policy is disabled or not configured. The Add programs from your network section appears. Users can view and install published programs.
1 The policy is enabled. The Add programs from your network section is removed. Users cannot use this method to view and install published programs.

If the value of this entry is 1, users cannot tell which programs have been published by the system administrator, and they cannot use Add/Remove Programs to install published programs. However, they can still install programs by using other methods, and they can view and install assigned (partially installed) programs that are offered on the desktop or on the Start menu.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Hide the "Add programs from your network" option policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs).
