HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Uninstall

Data type Range Default value
REG_DWORD 0 | 1 0

Description

Removes the Add a program from CD-ROM or floppy disk section from the Add New Programs page. As a result, users cannot use Add/Remove Programs to install programs from removable media.

This entry stores the setting of the Hide the "Add a program from CD-ROM or floppy disk" option Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value Meaning
0 (or not in registry) The policy is disabled or not configured. The Add a program from CD-ROM or floppy disk option is available to all users.
1 The policy is enabled. The Add a program from CD-ROM or floppy disk section is removed from the Add New Programs page.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Hide the "Add a program from CD-ROM or floppy disk" option policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs).

Note Image Note

This entry does not prevent users from using other tools and methods to add or remove program components.

If the value of the NoAddPage entry is set to 1, this entry is ignored. Also, if the value of the DisableMedia entry is set to 1, users cannot add programs from removable media, regardless of the setting of this entry.
