HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_SZ | Letter(s) representing a type of event (no punctuation or spaces between letters) | iweap |
Specifies the types of events that Windows Installer records in its transaction log. The log, Msi.log, appears in the Temp directory of the system volume.
This entry stores the setting of the Logging Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is iweap.
The value of this entry consists of one or more letters, each of which represents a type of event. To direct Windows Installer to record events of this type, add the letter representing the event type to the value of this entry. You can enter the letters in any order. T
If this entry does not appear in the registry, Windows Installer logs the default event types, as represented by the letters iweap. If this entry appears in the registry, but its value is blank, the system does not log any events.
