HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFE minutes | 0xFFFFFFFF | 0xFFFFFFFF |
Directs the system to verify its published printers in the background while the system is running, and specifies how often this background verification is performed.
Whenever the system starts, it verifies that the printers it published in Active Directory have not been deleted. This entry provides for additional, periodic verifications while the system is running.
This entry stores the setting of the Check published state Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry when you configure the Check published state policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 0xFFFFFFFF.
Value | Meaning |
---|---|
0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFE minutes | Specifies the interval between background verifications of published printers. |
0xFFFFFFFF | No background verifications. The system verifies its printers only when it starts. |
Typically, printers are deleted from Active Directory by the printer pruning service, which deletes unavailable printers to keep Active Directory accurate and up to date. If an active printer that this system published has been pruned, the system recognizes the error during its verification, and republishes the printer in Active Directory.
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Check published state policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers).
