HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Windows File Protection
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0 | 1 | 1 |
Hides the file scan progress window. This window provides status information to sophisticated users, but might confuse novices.
This entry stores the setting of the Hide the file scan progress window Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 0 when you enable the Hide the file scan progress window policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes the entry from the registry and the system behaves as though the value is 1.
Value | Meaning |
---|---|
0 | The policy is enabled. The file scan progress window does not appear during file scanning. |
1 | The policy is disabled or not configured. The file scan progress window appears. |
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Hide the file scan progress window policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Windows File Protection).
Note
This entry takes precedence over a user setting. While the Hide the file scan progress window policy is enabled (and the value of this entry is 0), the system ignores the value of SfcShowProgress in the Winlogon subkey.
Windows File Protection only scans when the current user is an administrator of the computer.
Tip
For detailed information about particular Group Policy settings, see the Group Policy Reference (Gp.chm) on the Windows 2000 Resource Kit companion CD.
