HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Performance
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0 | 1 | 1 |
Determines whether network adapters are listed by name or by number in performance monitoring tools, such as System Monitor.
Network adapters are represented by instances of the Network Interface performance object. By default, System Monitor displays the display name provided by the network adapter driver as the name of the instance.
In Windows NT 4.0 and earlier, Performance Monitor 4 numbered the instances of the Network Interface object, beginning with 2 (1 represents the loopback interface). The numbers represent the order in which the network interface drivers load.
To direct System Monitor to display numbers for the network adapters, instead of names, add this entry to the registry and set its value to 0.
Value | Meaning |
---|---|
0 | Numbers. System Monitor displays numbers to represent network adapters. |
1 | Names. System Monitor displays the names of network adapters. |
To make changes to this entry effective, restart the Remote Registry Service or restart Windows 2000.
