Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFF | 0x5 |
Specifies the maximum number of unused IP dial-out adapters that Routing and Remote Access can maintain. If the number of unused IP dial-out adapters exceeds the value specified in this entry, Routing and Remote Access deletes the excess adapters.
Routing and Remote Access creates IP dial-out adapters dynamically as needed, and deletes them when they are no longer needed. Routing and Remote Access creates reserve adapters in advance to prevent call delays. However, because adapters consume system resources, you should have only as many reserve adapters as you will use.
If the value of this entry is too high, resources are wasted on maintaining excess adapters. If the value of this entry is too low, users will experience perceptible delays while adapters are being created.
