HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters
Data type | Range | Default value |
---|---|---|
REG_DWORD | 0x0 - 0xFFFFFFFF seconds | 0x78 (120 seconds = 2 minutes) |
Determines how long the DNS client on Windows 2000 Professional avoids an unresponsive network adapter.
When the DNS servers accessible through a particular network adapter interface do not respond to repeated requests, the DNS client stops sending queries to that interface for the time specified in the value of this entry. During that time, the DNS client sends queries to servers accessible through other network adapters.
If the value of this entry is 0x0, this optimizing feature is disabled. DNS continues to send queries to unresponsive adapters.
To make changes to this entry effective, restart the DNS client service or restart Windows 2000.
Note
This entry is used only on Windows 2000 Professional.
