Determines how many times the DHCP service issues ICMP ping messages if the messages are not successful. When the number of unsuccessful ping messages reaches the value of this entry, the DHCP services offers a new IP address.
To change the value of this entry, use the DHCP Manager snap-in. Right-click the name of the server, click Properties, and then click the Advanced tab. This entry stores the value in the Conflict detection attempts box.
Note
The maximum valid value for this entry is 5. If you enter a value greater than 5, DHCP Service interprets it as a 5.
Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry unless you use DHCP Manager to change the default value of this entry.
