Specifies the computers and/or users notified of impending resource, security or access problems on the server. Alerts appear in a message box on the user's display. Typically, the Alerter service sends alerts when a printer is running out of paper or the disk on a file server is nearly full.
If you enter a computer name, the system notifies the current user of the computer. If the value of this entry is blank, no alerts are sent.
To change the value of this entry, use the Send Administrative Alerts to preference (Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Administrative Templates\Administrative Services) in Group Policy.
To specify a computer, enter the computer's DNS name or NetBIOS computer name. To specify a user, enter their internal (domain) user name. Do not enter an internet address.
