Determines whether the system writes an error to the System Log in Event Viewer when Windows 2000 terminates abnormally.
This entry stores the value of the Write an event to the system log check box in System in Control Panel.
| Value | Meaning |
| 0 | No events are logged when the system terminates abnormally. |
| 1 | The system writes an error message to the System Log when Windows 2000 terminates abnormally. |
To change the value of this entry, use System in Control Panel. Click the Advanced tab, then click the Startup and Recovery button. This value is set to 1 when the Write an event to the system log box is checked.
To make changes to this value effective, you must restart Windows 2000.
