Specifies whether Windows 2000 writes the contents of system memory to a log file when the system stops unexpectedly. The contents of this log file can then be used to determine why the system stopped.
This entry stores the value of the Write debugging information to check box in System in Control Panel. The name and location of the file are specified in the value of DumpFile.
Value | Meaning |
0 | No files are written when the system terminates abnormally. |
1 | Debugging information is written to a file when the system terminates abnormally. |
To change the value of this entry, use the System in Control Panel. Click the Advanced tab, then click the Startup and Recovery button. This value is set to 1 when the Write debugging information to box is checked.
To make changes to this value effective, you must restart Windows 2000.
