There may be situations where your computer cannot communicate with your server. On almost every standard network configuration (which includes most home networks), check the following:
- Make sure your server is on and has started Windows Home
Server.
- Make sure the network cable for your server is connected to the
network.
- Make sure your network switch or hub is powered on and is
connected to the network.
- Make sure your home server and home computers are on the same
logical network (subnet). For most home networks, this is the
default configuration. For more information, see What is an advanced
network configuration?.
