Ultrasound deployment uses two protocols: SMB and DCOM. If a firewall blocks the SMB port, you cannot deploy providers, because Ultrasound uses SMB to copy the provider setup package to the remote servers. WMI is then used to invoke the remote process that executes the setup package.
If you have firewalls in your environment, and the SMB port is blocked, you should locally copy and install the provider package on the remote server by using the procedure To locally install providers by using the command line.
If your firewall blocks DCOM, this will prevent Ultrasound from collecting data through WMI. For DCOM to go through a firewall, you must open a set of ports. For more information, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=16723.
