How Alert Grouping Works

To minimize the number of alerts that appear for a given event or condition, Ultrasound groups related events that occur within a predefined time period. For example, if you successfully deploy providers to fifty servers, only one "Successful deployments" alert appears within a one-week time period. The alert in the Alerts pane shows the number of times the alert has occurred, and you can see the individual alerts that are grouped under a single alert by double-clicking the alert and viewing the Advanced tab of the Alert Details dialog box.

Alert grouping changes in the following scenarios:

• Only alerts marked Active are grouped. If you change the alert status of an alert from Active to Resolved, a new alert will appear if the event or condition occurs again, even if it occurs within the predefined time period.
• If a view or row filter that contains the alert is changed in any way, a new alert is created instead of being grouped with existing alerts.
