Understanding terminals

When you run an Interix shell, the terminal is the console window that appears on your screen. In Interix, the terminal is the main device with which you work. From within the shell, you can alter window console properties, such as the window size and color. You can also scroll back through previously displayed material. To control the terminal window within Interix, use the stty(1) command or the TERM variable.

Because the Interix console window is running on Windows, you can also adjust the properties of the console window through the Windows interface.
