To enable execution of files with setuid or setgid mode bits set

1. Insert the Windows Services for UNIX compact disc into the CD-ROM drive.
2. At a command prompt, type:

   regini cd_drive:\setup\enablesetuid.ini

   where cd_drive is the drive letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive.

• Allowing the execution of files with the setuid or setgid mode bit set can pose security risks. For more information on how Interix implements this mechanism, see The superuser account and appropriate privileges.

Notes

• For the changes to take effect, you must restart your computer.
• To restore default Interix behavior, insert the Windows Services for UNIX compact disc into the CD-ROM drive and then, at a command prompt, type the following:

  regini cd_drive:\setup\disablesetuid.ini
