To start Server for NIS

Using the Windows interface

  1. Open Services for UNIX Administration.
  2. If necessary, connect to the computer you want to manage.
  3. Right-click Server for NIS, and then click Start.

Using a command line

Argument Description
server The name of the server you want to start.
user The name of the user who has administrative permissions on the server to be started, if different from the current user.
password The password of the user who has administrator permissions on the server to be started, if different from the current user. If you type a user name but omit the password, you will be prompted for the password.
