Configuring Global Settings (System Configuration) There are several settings on the System Configuration page that you can manage for Enterprise Reporter: • Credential Manager You can manage credentials for use throughout the system. For more information, see “Using the Credential Manager” on page 58. • Email settings If you are a reporting administrator, you can configure a default SMTP server. This makes it easier for reporting users to configure delivery of reports by email. For more information, see Configuring a Default SMTP Server. • Quest Knowledge Portal settings Quest Knowledge Portal (QKP) is a cross product online reporting platform. Once Quest Knowledge Portal is deployed, you can configure Enterprise Reporter to enable publishing. Reports can then be published, allowing users to generate reports using a web browser instead of the Report Manager. For more information, see “Configuring Quest Knowledge Portal” on page 94. • Software Improvement program This optional program is designed so that Quest can receive anonymous feedback about the features you use, in order to continually improve Enterprise Reporter. No personal information is collected. The performance of the software is not affected. You can opt out of the software improvement program for any component by clearing the appropriate check box in the dialog box. • Access Explorer Configuration You can set the duration of the data cache and the maximum rows of records to display on the Explorer tab. By default, the data cache is refreshed automatically every 24 hours. Users can refresh the cache manually at any time. By default, the maximum number of records to display without receiving a warning is 50,000. For more information, see Configuring Access Explorer. • Database Settings You can increase the timeout for the Enterprise Reporter server. Connection timeouts control how long the server has to establish a connection to the database, while the command timeout controls the amount of time available for processing a command on the database.
